The Forest Man of India Jadav Payeng

Environment Day is celebrated globally on 5 June every year. People living in the digital world of social media become environment lovers by planting trees or doing some work in the interest of the environment and posting its picture with a good caption on their social media account. But our love for the environment in the country and the world can be gauged from the increasing pollution. In recent times, the increasing pollution in the environment and the conversion of dense forests into high-rise buildings is resulting in climate change. Increasing pollution is not only dangerous for nature but is also a big threat to human civilization. However, governments and many people have launched various campaigns to save the environment. But whose story we are going to tell today, he has devoted a very long time of his life to make a forest on 1360 acres of land. Jadav Payeng, a resident of Assam, has created a huge forest by giving 40 years of his life to trees. For which he is known as ‘Forest Man of India’. For this he has been honored with the Padmashree award by the Government of India. Many animals live in the forest created by him.

Today we will talk about the Forest Man of India Jadav Payeng: Jadav Molai Payeng is also called Forest Man of India. At the age of 16, he started planting trees. Today he has single-handedly created a forest the size of 15 football fields. For Jadav Molai Payeng, who lives in Assam, nature and environment are life. Jadav Molai has been planting trees for 42 years for the survival of creatures and environmental protection. He has established hundreds of acres of forest area on his own, hence he is called the Forest Man of India. Recognizing his services, the Central Government honored him with the Padma Shri award.

Jadav Payeng was born in the year 1963 in Kokilamukh, a small village in Jorhat district of Assam. He has a special love for nature since childhood. There was a severe flood in Assam during 1979. Jadav, then 16 years old, saw that many animals were found dead on the banks of the Brahmaputra. Hundreds of dead snakes had landed on the sand and due to land erosion, the entire greenery around had been swallowed by the river. Due to which the animals and birds there lost their habitat. This incident had a great impact on Jadav’s mind. Then he decided that he would plant a lot of trees and create a big forest. This is because he wanted to preserve as many wild animals as possible. Jadav shared his idea with the villagers, but the villagers did not agree to his idea. This task seemed difficult and even impossible without any government help. Despite this, Jadav Payeng did not give up and started starting it himself. Initially, he planted 20 saplings and gradually this number grew so much that approximately 1,360 acres of land was transformed into a huge forest. This forest area is home to elephants and other animals. This forest man of India who has won the Padma Shri award is infinite and amazing. Payeng’s life’s work extends far beyond creating a lush forest. Their trees absorb carbon dioxide, act as a natural carbon sink, contribute to overall ecosystem health, support biodiversity, regulate water cycles, and are essential for a variety of species. Provide accommodation. Their reforestation efforts are a concrete and effective solution to climate change. The Molai Forest is a living example of how individual actions can contribute to a sustainable and harmonious co-existence between humanity and the environment.

Faced many difficulties in this journey

Jadav says that he had to face many difficulties in the beginning. Many times the plants were washed away during the rains and sometimes the plants were destroyed due to the rise in the water level of the river. But never stopped his work. Despite all this, he continued planting trees and taking care of them. I used to take whatever plants I found and plant them. However, many times during the rainy season, trees used to fall due to wind. But he planted trees every day and tried many methods to save them. Gradually, many plants grew bigger and the number of trees kept increasing year after year.

Many animals and birds live in the forest.

Jadav says that he worked continuously for planting trees from the beginning. By planting trees every day, the number of trees kept increasing and a forest grew there. Many animals started making this forest their home. Now about 5 Royal Bengal Tigers, more than 100 deer and many bears live here. Many types of birds have made their home in their forest. Just took care of the forest and the animals themselves came and settled in their forest. The number of animals is also increasing year by year.

Now Jadav will plant trees in Mexico

Jadav Payeng says that in this era we all have to come together to protect nature. He said, “Protecting nature is most important. I have been invited to plant trees on approximately eight lakh hectares of land in Mexico. Last year in the month of December, the President of Mexico had sent an invitation for tree planting. When I received this invitation, I felt proud that the word about whatever he is doing for nature is reaching far and wide. He told that he will make thousands of students there a part of this campaign to plant saplings in Mexico. Under an agreement between Jadav Payeng and the Mexican government, Payeng has to stay in Mexico for the last three months of the year for the next ten years, where he will plant trees on eight lakh hectares of land. For this he has been given a ten-year visa by the Mexican government.

‘Forest Man of India’ Jadhav Molai Payeng, who works for environmental protection, says about his journey that I have been planting trees every day for 42 years. I wake up at three in the morning and reach the forest by boat at five o’clock. We were married in this forest. A son and daughter were also born here. We are celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. We should love Mother Earth. He appealed that 140 crore Indians of the country should love nature. protect the environment. Only then can we all live comfortably. The government honored me with Padma Shri, but I don’t need money. I consider this honor given by the government as a great honor.
